General

Everything you need to know about how Skopos works and what to expect when you put them on.

Cognitive eyewear is designed to reduce the mental load of screen work, not just protect your eyes. Skopos uses an amber lens that filters the light wavelengths that keep your brain in a low-level state of alert, activating the prefrontal cortex instead. It's closer to Brain.fm than to standard glasses

Blue light glasses filter a narrow band of light for eye comfort. Skopos tunes the full visible spectrum reaching your eyes to reduce cognitive arousal and support sustained focus. The Cochrane review that found blue light glasses don't work for attention and performance was testing eye-comfort glasses, a different goal, a different mechanism.

The colour shift is real, warm and amber, the way a room looks under tungsten light. Most people adjust within minutes and stop noticing it. If you work with colour-critical tasks during the day, Nocturnal is best suited to evenings and night sessions. The Daylight lens, coming next, is built for daytime use.

You can. The Nocturnal lens is designed for high-intensity filtering, best suited to screen-heavy afternoons and evening sessions when cognitive load is highest. Think of it the way you'd think about a good pair of noise-cancelling headphones: you wouldn't wear them everywhere, but when you need to focus, they're the first thing you reach for.

Not at the moment. Skopos currently ships as non-prescription. Prescription options are on the roadmap, if you need them, sign up for the newsletter and you'll be first to know when they're available.

Most customers report a noticeably quieter feeling within the first session. The effect isn't stimulant-like, it's more like turning down a background noise you didn't realise was on. If you don't notice a difference within 30 days, send them back.

The Science

The research behind the lens, what it does, why it works, and where the evidence comes from.

Three bodies of evidence are relevant. Burkhart & Phelps (2009) demonstrated that amber-tinted lenses significantly improve sleep onset and quality by reducing evening arousal. Daneault et al. (NCBI) showed that blue-enriched light increases physiological and cognitive arousal — amber reduces it. Columbia University Irving Medical Center (2017) confirmed the relationship between amber lenses and reduced insomnia. The focus benefits follow from the arousal research: a less stimulated visual system settles faster into sustained attention.

Yes — the Cochrane review (2023) found that blue light glasses showed no significant benefit for eye strain or sleep. But that research was testing standard blue light glasses designed for eye protection, not cognitive performance. Skopos isn't in that category. The mechanism is different: we're not protecting your retina, we're tuning your brain's arousal state through the visible light spectrum.

It might be for some people. We won't tell you otherwise — placebo is a real physiological response and we're not running a blind trial on your brain. What we can say is that the science on light and cognitive arousal is solid, the mechanism is established, and we offer a 30-day flow guarantee: if your work doesn't feel different, you get your money back.

Dimming reduces brightness but doesn't change the spectral composition of the light — a dim blue-white screen is still a blue-white screen. Amber-wavelength filtering changes what colour of light reaches the eye, which is what drives the arousal response. Night Shift and f.lux are a partial version of the same idea — Skopos is more complete because it covers all light sources in your environment, not just your display.

Cognitive arousal is the brain's baseline state of readiness and reactivity. High arousal — driven partly by blue-enriched light — keeps the brain scanning and reactive rather than sustained and focused. Amber light reduces this arousal state while maintaining alertness, which is the difference between a wired, scattered brain and a calm, focused one. That's the mechanism Skopos is built on.

None known. Skopos is designed for screen-based focus work.
We don't recommend wearing them while driving or operating
machinery.

Pricing & Value

What €98 gets you, how it compares, and what happens if it doesn't work for you.

Because it's a one-time purchase that replaces a recurring one. The average nootropics user spends €60–80 a month — that's €720–960 a year, with tolerance, dependency, and varying results built in. Skopos is €98, once. No refills. No subscription. No tolerance curve.

Nootropics add a substance to your body and hope it helps. Skopos changes the input your brain receives through your eyes. One is chemistry-dependent, recurring, and introduces tolerance over time. The other is a lens you put on. They're not mutually exclusive — but if you're already spending €80 a month and not sure it's working, Skopos is a different kind of bet.

No. One purchase. The lens doesn't expire, degrade, or run out. Built to last — no compromise.

If Skopos doesn't change how your work feels within 30 days, send it back for a full refund. Free returns, no questions. The guarantee is named deliberately — we're not promising eye comfort, we're promising a change in how you focus. If that doesn't happen, the product didn't do its job.
